A few words about our finishing process: We select the cherry wood used to craft our clocks very carefully from reputable, environmentally correct lumber suppliers who generally subscribe to sustainable forest certification. As the lumber is jointed and planed to its final thickness, defects such as splits, cracks, pits and holes as well as light sapwood and dark sugar deposits may be discovered. When cutting the clocks and clock parts to shape, most of these naturally occurring defects are avoided. When the machining and sanding are complete, other, generally smaller or inconspicuous defects may appear at which time an attempt may be made to mask the defect. Conversely, if the minor defect appears to “fit” the particular grain of the cherry wood in question, it will remain.

A few more words...From time to time, as dictated by the market, our vendors will outsource the manufacture of certain components unavailable in the U.S.A. We receive no notification regarding this practice. Suffice it to say, we have little control over this activity. For instance, to our knowledge, there are currently no U.S.A. manufacturers making chiming movements. We are constantly searching for suppliers who produce solely in the U.S.A. We would be remiss if we told you that every component in every one of our fine clocks was made in the U.S.A.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to redesign a clock — to improve quality, to reduce the chances of damage during shipment or to accommodate a new or different part from a vendor — like a handle for instance. We will make every effort to update on a timely basis, photos of any clocks whose appearance might be altered by such a change.
